Who am I Living For?

Mark 8:34-38 – Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Some people worry too much about stepping on other people toes, about offending them in any way shape or form. I agree that we need to be careful with how we present ourselves to others, but if this becomes our chief concern and our focus, then we have big problems.

As a follower of Christ I am made to make waves. I am made to follow whole heatedly after Christ, even if that makes others (even Christians) uncomfortable. That is what I was designed for. I was created for a purpose, and that is not to make everyone around me feel good, but follow as hard as I can after Jesus Christ. To do what HE and HE alone asks me to do (even if it makes other uncomfortable).

Look at Tim Tebow and how many Christians don’t like his life because (according to them) he talks about Christ WAY TOO MUCH. Convicted anyone? God has a calling on his life and its his job to follow God’s calling, not what man thinks his life or talk should be like. Same way with us.

Are you worrying too much about what others think of you to follow what you know God is calling you to do? Do you need to repent or make a change? Think about it!

Romans 1:16 – I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Galatians 1:6-10 -I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
