Journey Assembly of God | Lima, OH

Journey Assembly of God was in the process of kicking off a set of TV commercials with the theme My Journey, My Church and wanted a new website to go along with this.  They picked their design from 2 initial design options.  The design they chose included a flash homepage (VISIT SITE).  This site also gives them a lot of future capabilities by using WordPress as their content manager.  In the future they are looking to post audio and live video from the services on the site.

This company is run by my cousin and he came to me for help designing an informational website for his business.  Included in the website (set up by another developer) is a back-end that allows him to track responses on his website.  His website is build in basic HTML and CSS but provides the features that he needs at this time.  We also assisted him in setting up a PayPal account for this site and for another one of his business ventures (CDR & Associates).  It has been a learning venture working with him and he is one of my first repeat clients for my free-lance design business.

Women’s Health for Life, Inc Sports Ad

I already work full-time as a computer specialist and IT manager at Women’s Health for Life in Lima, OH (I did their web design a few years ago) but beyond the website this is the first real design venture that I have undertaken for them.  I designed a full-color ad for use in sports programs at local high schools.  The ad has similar design features to their website to help promote brand cohesiveness and recognition from patients and potential patients.  I also helped them set up their Facebook account.

This year I continued working with Bluffton University (flash update on website), Debbie’s Driving Academy (website management & updates), Blanchard Valley Women’s Care (computer/technical consulting), Jean Thomas Deigns (website layout updates and SEO) and Faith Investment Services (SEO and cleaning up website – template creation in Dreamweaver).  It was a blessed year and I look forward to the people and businesses that God will bring into my path in the future.  Thanks for looking and reading!

WordPress gives users a great opportunity to post to their website in blog style, or you can have it set up with pages just like a normal website.  It gives great flexibility and there are hundreds of  plugins available for about any use you can come up with.  I personally use WordPress for my family site, ministry site and even for this site.

Not only is it a challenge, but I don’t know what I would do if I had any free time.  Hmmm, maybe I would sleep.  Anyways, for starters my day job is working as the computer specialist, guru, IT director (and about any other computer phrase you want to put here) for Women’s Health for Life, Inc in Lima, OH.  I have worked there since early spring 2007 and it has been a blessing to me and my family.

I work in the office 2 days a week and then from home the rest of the work.  Most weeks working close to 40 hours – it is a lot of one person to manage and maintain 30+ computers, 3 servers, 2 networks and a vpn.  I have learned a lot about networking, computer maintenance, help-desk work and so much more.  I have even been able to use the skills to assist a few clients (and family members) with computer consulting help!

When at home I am a wife and mother of 3 handsome and very active boys.  My oldest is 6 and my youngest will be 2 in a few months.  They keep me on my toes, but I love every minute of it!  I am also starting to homeschool (which is another reason why I would like to be home full-time) and they LOVE it!  They like it so much that they cry when we are done for the day (because mommy won’t let them do any more school, mean mommy).

My stress reliever is coaching a varsity (and jr. high) homeschool girls basketball team in the Lima area.  It has been a big blessing to me and has taught me a lot about planning, coordination, delegation and leadership.  It has also been a blessing for my boys.  They absolutely LOVE to go to practice with me twice a week and traveling with me to games all over the region.

So as you can see I have many hats.  BUT rest assured I love design.  I love to learn new ideas, techniques and trends.  When I am sitting and watching a movie with the boys or TV with my husband I am constantly have my laptop on my lap to learn and grow in all areas of design!  I love to design websites, brochures, cards, and so much more.  I haven’t had much outside work lately, so I have been afforded some time to design for my basketball team (and the upcoming season).  I have done my first t-shirt design in a few years, along with a new logo for our girls team!
